Purpose

The Housing Action Plan is based on the following priorities from Swindon’s Housing Strategy 2003-2008.

1. Affordable Housing

2. Decent Homes for All

3. Regeneration

4. Improving Services for Council Tenants

5. Accessing Affordable and Supported Housing

6. Providing a Caring, Learning and Improving Organisation

Each of these priorities has a specific aim which is linked to the Council Corporate Plan. The Housing Action Plan also includes references to other plans and strategies, demonstrating its links with wider corporate and community objectives, including Swindon 2010.

Each objective has various actions to be carried out with timescales, the relevant risk associated with each action and the responsible officer identified. The Cabinet Member for Housing has overall responsibility for the Plan.

The Improvement Plan will be monitored on a monthly basis with the Housing Management Team with areas at risk identified and any required corrective action stated in the monitoring report.

A summary of the monitoring report will also be presented to the Housing Advisory Forum on a Quarterly basis.
