Although most people will pass smoothly from their introductory tenancy to a secure tenancy, we will act swiftly against anyone who breaks their tenancy agreement.
This will apply to rent arrears as well as other matters and it is, therefore, important that you pay your rent promptly. If you are entitled to housing benefit, ensure you give the Benefits Office all the details they need to assess your claim as early as possible. If you do have genuine difficulties in making payments you should discuss these with your housing assistant.
The council will always try to find a solution to problems to enable you to keep your home. However, you will have to co-operate with us to resolve any problems that have been caused.
If other problems are reported we will always investigate these first to see if the complaints are justified and we will usually warn you initially. If you will not co-operate with our efforts to find a solution, or the problems are very serious then we will take action to evict you.
The procedure for evicting an introductory tenant is much easier and quicker than evicting a secure tenant.
