If the Council Takes Action

Initially, you will receive a Notice from us telling you that we are going to court to evict you. You can ask for a review of the decision, but must do so within 14 days. A panel of senior council staff (and sometimes councillors) will review your case. You will have the chance to put your side of the story to the panel.

If the panel agree that the eviction can go ahead you will not be able to appeal to anyone else. We would still have to get a court order to carry out the eviction, but the judge will have to give us the order provided we have followed the proper procedures.

If we do take this action then you could get advice and assistance from the Citizens Advice Bureau, law centre, independent advice centre or a solicitor.

We hope that we rarely have to take this action against introductory tenants but breaches of the tenancy agreement are serious matters. If we have to evict tenants who cause problems then we will do so.
