Parks And Gardens

Frosty LakeSwindon is lucky to have over 150 parks and open spaces throughout the Borough.  One of these parks may be your favourite but perhaps discovering new sites will reveal more of Swindon’s beauty, history and wildlife.

A large number of animals and birds live in our parks and open spaces including badgers, foxes and owls.  Swindon’s parks are gateways into the surrounding countryside, providing ideal starting places for a great day out.

Lydiard House and Park The parks contain historical buildings, or old sites of castles,(Barbury), roman villas (Stanton Park) and manor houses (Lydiard Park), some dating back to the Iron Age period and still visible today.

Our aim is to provide, maintain and improve all our Parks to a high standard that provides a healthy, safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.

To achieve this we will deliver a professional public service that will aim to promote Swindon Borough Council’s parks and open spaces.

Queen's park flower bedsThe service offers many opportunities for the enhancement to the quality of life for the community though the careful sensitive management of local environment taking careful consideration to the wildlife and historical qualities of each Park.
