Six Pools - Each with a Unique Atmosphere

Six pools on five sites offer an enormous variety of organised sessions, coached lessons, individual training and leisure swimming. The Swim Swindon Academy, provides pathways for progression by carefully programmed stages from a comprehensive range of learn to swim sessions to club level and eventually, for the very best, to Racing Club Swindon.

Everybody 60 and over will be entitled to swim for free at published public swimming sessions at any of our pools. The scheme is part of a national campaign to promote swimming, general fitness, more active lifestyles and well-being.

Swimming lessons

Swimming lessons at all of the pools follow the Amateur Swimming Association's National Plan for teaching swimming, ensuring that all learners are given a thorough grounding in the skills appropriate to their level of attainment by trained and experienced instructors. The plan concentrates largely on developing water confidence and producing technically accurate swimmers with a solid foundation to move onto participation across the range of swimming disciplines. Achievement at specific levels is recognised by awarding ASA National Swim Awards. Courses are available from children aged 6 months to adults.

All of our swimming instructors are qualified to Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) standard and some hold current National Pool Lifeguard Qualifications (NPLQ).

We also offer a range of Private Lessons. All lessons we offer are for 30 minutes duration. For more information please contact the individual swimming pool sites.

Children's Safety Information

As a guide, the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management (ISRM) advise babies should be 6 months plus, due to temperature and Chlorination levels.

The Pools

Oasis Leisure Centre

The lagoon pool at the Oasis provides a fun time for all ages, home to 3 giant waterslides (Domebusters), a NEW indoor open-topped water slide (Lagoon Falls) as well as hydro-slides, wave machine and water cannon. There is a beach type gradient to the Lagoon Pool and a learner pool, with 'The Jolly Soaker' Pirate ship (an interactive water play feature) and elephant slide for the under 8's.

Health Hydro

The Health Hydro has two swimming pools within one building, a 33 metre conventional five laned pool and a smaller, warmer 18 metre teaching pool. The Hydro also stages galas for local clubs.

Link Centre

The Link Centre is home to Swindon's only 25 metre deck level competition pool. The six laned pool, has excellent viewing facilities. Lane swimming is available every day for the more focused swimmer, while fun 'float' sessions keep the children amused.

Dorcan Recreation Complex

Dorcan is situated in East Swindon. This unique 20m x 10m pool, set in cosy surroundings, provides a wide variety of water-based activities, including Aquafit, swimming lessons and lane swimming. There is something for everybody.

Highworth Recreation Centre

Highworth is situated to the north east of Swindon. When the sun shines, The Rec is the place for exercise and relaxation. Both sides of the 25m pool retract, opening onto sun terraces, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing family day out. When the weather cools, the deck level pool is fully enclosed under a state of the art domed roof, providing a comfortable swimming environment.
