Start and Finish
What To Do
Race Assembly & Start
All three races start under the gantry in Pipers Way. Please listen for any last-minute details given by the PA announcer. Half Marathon runners should be assembled in good fime for a prompt start at 11:00am. Please be considerate to your fellow runners and assemble according to your estimated finish time as indicated on the lamp posts on the right hand side of the runners zone. Entrants for the Fun Runs (Multi Terrain 11:10 & Fun Run 11:20) will be called to the start line once the Half Marathon is underway.
Crossing the Finish Line
Half Marathon and Multi-Terrain running numbers have a timing chip attached. Please do not tamper with or remove this chip. Follow the instructions on the reverse of the number and avoid damaging the chip and wire aerial when pinning it to your vest. Make sure that your number is displayed vertically and not folded when finishing. The chip will be detected as you cross the finish line and your time and race number will be recorded automatically.
After finishing, your number will be scanned by marshals using hand-held detectors. This is only a back-up, your time is recorded as you cross the finish line. Please keep moving once you have crossed the line and clear the finish area as soon as possible.
Fun Run entrants will be able to see their finishing time displayed on the digital clock by the finish line.
Please do not remove your race number. At the end of the funnel please pause to have your medal awarded, retain your running number to collect your goody bag, t-shirt and to reclaim your baggage.
Drinks Stations
There are six water stations on the Half Marathon course and one drink station on the Multi-Terrain course.
There are two isotonic drink stations at miles 3 and 10.
Please consider the clear-up crews when disposing of your used drinks bottles. If they can be dropped close to the side of the road this makes life much easier for the workforce.
First Aid
First Aid posts and marshals will remain in position until the last runner finishes. Please follow the directions of the marshals. St John provide Standard (Level 2) medical cover for this event.
Toilets
There will be toilet facilities at the start and also at 3.5, 6 and 9 mile points around the Half Marathon course.
Showers
Showers will not be available at the finish. However, limited showers are available at Croft Sport's Centre, simply show your race number to access these facilities.
