On this page: Recycling advice for mixed plastic packaging, wrappings and containers, how to report a missed recycling collection.
Service Details
We undertake a fortnightly collection of household mixed plastics. By mixed plastics we mean items such as:
- Plastic bottles
- Margarine tubs
- Ice cream tubs
- Yoghurt pots
- Plastic bags
- Cling film and other plastic food wrapping film
- Biscuit trays
- Cake trays
- Meat trays
- Fruit and vegetable trays
- Plastic take-away tubs
Any of these items should be placed in either a clear (transparent) or white sack. Please do not include any item of black plastic, polystyrene and expanded polystyrene, plastic toys, plant pots, plastic furniture, buckets, hard plastic storage containers or washing up bowls.
Any plastic materials that you put out for recycling must be washed and clean. Dirty items will not be collected as these would contaminate the other items to be recycled.
Only smaller household items should be included. Bulky items such as garden furniture can be disposed of at the Household Waste Recycling Centre. Generally, the type of things you can include are plastic items that you'd normally keep in either your kitchen or bathroom and which have contained food, drink or household cleaning/washing products.

For details of the collection days for your household please see Refuse and Recycling Collection Days.
We will not collect your recycling if it does not meet the requirements stated above. If your recycling has not been collected, we will place a sticker explaining the reason why it has not been collected.
