Local Recycling Points

At this time of year the Household Waste Recycling Centre is traditionally very busy with quite long waiting times. For those wishing to dispose of recyclable materials, the use of our Local Recycling Points may be a quicker and more convenient alternative. Follow the link for details of their locations and the materials that may be disposed of.

The Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) is available to residents of Swindon to dispose of household recycling and household waste at:

Waterside Park
Darby Close
Cheney Manor Industrial Estate
Swindon

You can do this in a number of ways:

  • You can use the HRWC webcam to assess queuing times for yourself.
  • Telephone the StreetSmart Team at the Swindon Direct Contact Centre. Details are available on the Swindon Direct webpage.

Large Vehicles Above 1.9 Metres High

Any householder using a vehicle over 1.9m in height will be asked to tip in a separate area and will require a permit. This permit will allow 12 visits to the site each year and must be presented each time the site is visited in a large vehicle. You can obtain a permit on your first visit after the 1st April. Just bring your Council Tax invoice (sent out in March), this will prove entitlement and a permit will be issued.

  • Saturday: 8.00am-12.00noon.

Other Recycling Sites

The Household Waste Recycling Centre is the biggest recycling site in Swindon. But there are other local sites where you can recycle various items - please see Recycling - Local Sites. 2
