A Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) is available to residents of Swindon to dispose of household recycling and household waste at:

Large Vehicles Above 1.9 Metres High
From 1 April 2012, any householder using a vehicle over 1.9m in height will be asked to tip in a separate area and will require a permit. This permit will allow 12 visits to the site each year and must be presented each time the site is visited in a large vehicle. You can obtain a permit on your first visit after the 1st April. Just bring your Council Tax invoice (sent out in March), this will prove entitlement and a permit will be issued.

The HWRC is open every day except:
On all other days:
- Winter* opening times: 8.00am-4.30pm
- Summer* opening times: 8.00am-8.00pm
*These change with the clock changes between Greenwich Mean Time and British Summer Time

- DIY/hardcore
- Wood
- Garden waste
- Plastic bottles
- Batteries (including car batteries)

Hazardous waste (excluding asbestos) must be handed to a member of staff to ensure correct disposal.
Car Tyres and Asbestos
The HWRC does not accept business and commercial waste. Certain wastes are considered industrial but are produced by households. For these wastes, a charge is made. These charges are:

Compost and Woodchip
Locally-made compost and woodchip are available at the site. The prices for these are:

Queueing
We aim to keep queueing time at the HWRC to a maximum of 30 minutes. The webcam shown at the top of the page gives a real-time indication of the current situation.
