Mineral Development Framework

Swindon Borough Council works jointly with Wiltshire Council in the preparation of a Minerals Development Framework (MDF) for Wiltshire and Swindon, which comprises:

  • A portfolio of local development plan documents (DPDs)
  • A Local Development Scheme (LDS)
  • Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD)
  • A Statement of Community Involvement

Minerals Core Strategy

In June 2009, Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council adopted the Minerals Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD). The Minerals Core Strategy sets out a spatial vision, key objectives and overall principles for minerals development up to 2026.

Minerals Development Control Policies

In September 2009 Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council adopted the Minerals Development Control Policies Development Plan Document (DPD). The DPD sets out generic development control policies to assist with the process of determining planning applications for minerals development.

Aggregate Minerals Site Allocations

The Aggregate Minerals Site Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD) will provide detailed local expression to the Minerals Core Strategy in terms of formally identifying land for future aggregate mineral working in the period up to 2026.

Consultation

The Councils are now consulting on the soundness of the Proposed Submission Draft of the Aggregate Minerals Site Allocations DPD. The consultation period runs from Monday 30th January 2012 to 5.00pm on Monday 12th March 2012. The Proposed Submission Draft and its associated documents can be viewed online at:
