On this page: Information about the Swindon Dog Warden Service, which handles many matters relating to dogs and dog ownership. These include health and welfare issues, missing or stray dogs and the enforcement of local by-laws.
Service Details
In particular, the Dog Warden Service deals with:
Complaints related to the ownership of dogs
Dog fouling issues
Dog bins
The welfare aspects of dog ownership
Stray dogs
Missing dogs
Enforcement of local by-laws and legislation
Dog ownership education
Home checks
Dog ownership education is an increasingly important part of dog wardens' roles. We believe it is important to educate children on responsible dog ownership as they will be the dog owners of tomorrow. For this reason, our wardens provide educational talks to school children when requested by local schools.
In addition we carry out ‘home checks’ to ensure that when unclaimed stray dogs are re-homed, they go to responsible, caring owners.
Service Levels
The Dog Warden Service is generally available during normal office hours (Monday to Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm); although alternative arrangements may be in place for some of the more urgent aspects of the Dog Wardens' role.
