Foot-and-mouth Disease is a highly-contagious and sometimes fatal viral disease which affects (among others) cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. Any outbreak (or suspected outbreak) must be treated very seriously and action taken immediately.
There are currently no movement restrictions relating to Foot-and-mouth Disease-susceptible animals and trade within the EU.
If You Suspect the Existence of Foot-and-Mouth Disease
If you keep animals and you suspect that any of them may have contracted Foot-and-mouth Disease, you must cease movements onto and off your farm (or property) immediately and contact your local Animal Health Office.
