Clinical Waste
Description of Service
We provide a separate collection service for hazardous clinical wastes from households in Swindon.
Hazardous clinical wastes should not be disposed of in your wheelie bin or blue sack. This includes infectious materials, but does not include non-infectious materials such as colostomy bags from otherwise healthy persons.
Requests for a clinical waste collection are usually made via your doctor or other medical practitioner. You can, however, request a clinical waste collection via the number below. If you contact us to arrange this, we will arrange for one of our team to visit your home to undertake an assessment. If on completion of an assessment you are deemed as needing a clinical waste collection you will be issued with yellow sacks or a bin for disposing of the waste.
All clinical waste sacks are collected on a Wednesday separate from the rest of your household waste.
Service Levels
We aim to contact you with 10 working days to arrange a visit for a clinical waste collection assessment.
We will collect any missed collections of clinical waste within 2 working days.
