The Animal By-Products Regulations 2003 specify that all livestock carcases are required to be disposed of correctly to reduce the risk of any potential disease spread, and on-farmm burial and incineration of livestock carcases is banned.
Carcases must be disposed of at Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) approved premises and must be accompanied by animal by-product movement documents.
