What we do...

The conservation team provides advice and technical assistance to colleagues in the planning department and people who live and work within the Borough.

Our aim is to preserve and maintain the integrity of our many listed buildings, conservation areas and buildings of historic interest.  

Swindons’ historic built environment is broad and diverse providing an interesting backdrop to the more contemporary buildings in the area.

We pay particular attention to how any new development will alter or change the character of a building that is either listed or within a conservation area. We ensure a balanced approach to development by protecting and preserving buildings of historic value.
