A registered park and garden is one that is included in the English Heritage “Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest”. Parks and gardens are registered in order to identify those sites that are of special historic interest.
There are three registered parks and gardens in the Borough of Swindon:
- Lydiard Park (pictured, above right)
- Town Gardens
- Queen's Park (pictured, below right)
The decision as to whether a park or garden is worthy of inclusion on the national register is by assessment by English Heritage and further details are available on their website: www.english-heritage.org.uk.
