The park (pictured above) was purchased by the borough In 1996 with the aid of money from the Heritage Lottery Fund (www.hlf.org.uk), who have subsequently made significant contributions to the restoration work that had been undertaken there in the past five years. This has included selective woodland thinning; replanting specimen trees; constructing a network of paths; signs and site interpretation; and restoring the avenue approaching the village of Stanton Fitzwarren.
The 72-hectare park, with its sweeping vistas over parkland, includes a lake and woodland is fully open to the public. (See the Great Western Community Forest website: (www.forestweb.org.uk).
