Shaw Forest Park is Swindon's only urban forest. It has been formed by tipping clay onto a disused landfill site. The clay has been formed into large mounds and cultivated with mushroom compost and sewage sludge to improves its fertility. The area has then been planted with suitable trees. Part of the site is now open to walkers, with plans to create a footpath across the whole of the site linking Shaw with Peatmoor.
