Local Plan Review - Swindon Borough Council

Background Information on the Swindon Borough Local Plan 2011

The First Deposit Draft of this plan was published in September 2002 and remained on deposit to November 2002. Following consideration of the representations to the First Deposit Draft, a Revised Deposit Draft was published in November 2003 and remained on deposit to January 2004.

The Borough Council published Pre-Inquiry Changes in June 2004, and these remained on deposit until July 2004.

A public local inquiry into the Swindon Borough Local Plan 2011 was held between January and May 2005.

The Council published Proposed Modifications to the Plan, in February 2006, to accord with most of the Inspector's recommendations, (Please note the reports should be read in full including the Addendums, which identify the removal of Martins Farm as a housing allocation).The Proposed Modifications documents can be viewed by clicking on the links below:

The Council considered all the representations received to the Proposed Modifications to the Swindon Borough Local Plan 2011 and published a 'Statement of Reasons and Decisions' in respect of objections to the proposed modifications, this can be viewed by clicking on the following link:

Changes made following the Proposed Modifications (Appendix 2)

A number of minor changes were made to the Proposals Maps following the Proposed Modifications. These comprised housing sites that had recently been consented; an additional change to the Town Centre Boundary at Commercial Road; and a change to the boundary of archaeological interest (Policy ENV5) at South Marston.

The Council published the formal Intention to Adopt Notice on the 21st June 2006, and following the statutory period of notice published the formal Adoption Notice on the 19th July 2006.
