Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how the Council intends to involve the community in the planning policy documents it prepares (as part of its Local Development Framework) and the planning applications it receives. It is hoped that the SCI will help engage communities and encourage everyone to 'have a say' on future planning decisions in Swindon Borough.

The Council adopted its SCI on January 22nd 2007. The preparation of the SCI involved three rounds of public consultation between July 2005 and June 2006. This was followed by an examination period when an independent Inspector assessed the 'soundness' of the SCI against the nine tests set down by Government. The adopted SCI is included below, together with its formal Adoption Statement and associated Inspector's Report.

If you have any additional queries concerning the SCI please contact the Council's Forward Planning team on 01793 466513 or email forwardplanning@swindon.gov.uk
