Swindon Central Area Action Plan - Examination

What is the Examination Stage?

This page contains information on the Swindon Central Area Action Plan Independent Examination. The purpose of the Independent Examination was to assess whether the Action Plan is 'sound'. An Inspector was appointed by the Secretary of State (Linda Wride DipTP MRTPI) to conduct the Examination, which was held during June/July 2008. The Inspector will now prepare a report with recommendations that are binding on the Council. The Inspectors Report is expected to be published in November 2008.

Representations made at the Submission Paper Stage

In December 2007 the Council published a Submission Paper, which is the third stage in the production of the Action Plan and which establishes the Council's preferred approach to delivering the successful regeneration of Central Swindon. This version of the Action Plan was considered at the Public Examination. The consultation period on the Submissions Paper ran to Monday 25th February 2008.

The Council published a statement summarising the representations received during the consultation on the Submission Paper. This statement is referred to as the Regulation 31 Statement.

Electronic copies of all the representations received are available on request.

Examination Programme

The Hearing session of the Public Examination commenced on 24 June 2008. The Hearing was held at the Pilgrim Centre, Regent Circus, Swindon, SN1 1PX. The purpose of the Hearing was for the Inspector to hear oral representations, from those who had requested to appear at the Hearing. A List of Hearing Sessions were produced.  A Core Documents List for the Examination in Public can be viewed by clicking on the following link:
