Environment

Educational Activities - Wonderful Wildlife

Key Stage: 1-4

Time: variable

Location: as required.

The following sessions are available as stand alone talks from our Wild Life Ranger.

Hedgehogs and Fledglings

We are extremely lucky to have a Wildlife Ranger on the team who rescues and nurses injured animals back to health both as a profession and in their spare time. This session explains the job that is done, what to do if an injured animal is seen and how they can do their bit for wildlife. The session concludes with the young people being able to take a close up look at a selection of rescued animals. Please note each talk will be slightly different as it will centre on the creatures being cared for at the time.

Meet Doreen the Barn Owl

Studying birds of prey is fascinating. This session concentrates on the sanctuary’s resident barn owl called Doreen giving the children the chance to meet this beautiful bird and learn about her feathered friends.

Brilliant Birds (Site Specific)

Key Stage: 1-2

Time: 2hours

Location: Coate Water Country Park.

Wildlife ActivitiesUsing the fantastic bird hides at Coate Water the children will learn to identify common birds seen in the reserve. The Ranger will talk about the birds that can be seen and how they have adapted to suit their environment. During the session there will also be the opportunity for younger children to take part in the Colin the Coot’s Trail.
