Educational Activities - Nature Walks and Talks

Time: Variable (can be tailored to suit your visit)

Location: As required.

Walking ActvityNature Walks and Talks is a seasonally based activity in which a Ranger will lead the children through a pre designated area and give a general information talk on what is seen.

The talk can be tailored to the requirements of the group and can incorporate a topic if desired. This can also be linked to Nature’s Palette and Scavenger Hunts.

Scavenger Hunt

Walking ActivitiesA simple activity to make the children more aware of their environment and look more closely at their surroundings. The children are given a list of things which they then have to find and collect as part of their walk.

Nature’s Palette

The children are given a piece of sticky card at the beginning of their walk which they then have to fill with things they find on the way. This activity can either be texture based or used to identify that there are many different colours in the environment other than green!

Seasonal Bingo

The children are given a worksheet with various pictures that relate to the current season. As the children walk they must listen and look for the items on their list and tick them off when spotted. Again a simple activity that really gets the children to look and listen to what is around them
