Based on Ferndale Road, the campus opened in 1999 with only a small intake of pre-registration nursing students. Since then there has been a keen sense of continuing growth and development and the university now offers the Adult Nursing Diploma and Degree courses. Oxford Brookes now has over 200 students and 25 staff and has been able to increase it's September 2004 intake to 77 places.
The Swindon Campus
The spacious, refurbished campus has comfortable seminar rooms, well-equipped lecture rooms and ward-style skills labs which are designed for practising clinical skills. There is a large student common room area, refectory and easy access to computers networked to the main Oxford campus.
The university's staff have fostered strong links with the local NHS Trusts where the nursing students undertake clinical placements. All acute clinical placements are carried out at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
There are a large range of community and primary care placements that are spread across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, These are accessed by the students as is appropriate to their programme and where they live.
