Criteria for admission to the Children’s Nursery:
- Priority will be given to Swindon Borough Council employees.
- Priority will be given to families where both parents/single parent is/are working as The Children’s Nursery is a workplace nursery.
- Five Neighbourhood Nursery places are set aside for families who live in areas of disadvantage to allow parents/carers to return to employment, education, training or adult learning.
- Siblings of older children attending the nursery will be given priority as the nursery wishes to maintain attendance levels and realise the importance of siblings attending the same childcare provider.
- Remaining places will be offered to external applicants.
- Places will be offered via a waiting list system and in line with the availability of places in the appropriate age group.
- No priority will be given to full time applicants, however a minimum of 4 sessions per week must be attended. This runs in line with the council’s job share policies. Exceptional cases requesting attendance of less than four sessions will be at the discretion of the managers, who will if necessary, refer to the Children’s Nursery Steering Group for a decision.
- Early Education only places may be offered at the discretion of the management to maximise occupancy levels of over 3s.
- An agreed starting date must be adhered to, as charges will be made from this date.
- Four weeks notice must be given to terminate a place, change a start date or reduce the number of sessions.
- Extra sessions will be charged for separately and the charge becomes payable when the booking is made. Booking extra sessions is subject to availability on the required date.
- These criteria are set out with full commitment to Equal Opportunities. They are also to be read in conjunction with The Children’s Nursery’s contract that parents/guardians must read and sign before their child is admitted to the nursery.
