Role of Swindon Carers Centre

Swindon Carers Centre was established to provide a wide range of services for the benefit of people with responsibility for caring for a family member, partner, friend or neighbour who cannot manage alone at home because of illness, frailty, disability or mental health problems. It is a sobering thought that many carers are children - taking on the awesome responsibility of looking after a sick or disabled parent.

The organisation recognises the burden that carers of any age have to carry. And they appreciate the fact that they often need support themselves. That is the role of the Swindon Carers Centre - to care for carers.

Services Available

The comprehensive services provided includes invaluable practical advice and support. But the Swindon Carers Centre is much more than a straightforward information point. It is dedicated to providing any kind of help for carers - from offering a sympathetic ear to their problems to organising respite holidays for them.

As a result of taking advantage of opportunities available, there are now carers in Swindon who have attended yoga classes, are developing computer skills including accessing e-mails and the Internet, have attended painting, personal safety, DIY, Egyptian dance, pottery and first aid classes.

In addition, many have attended courses to learn how to deal with difficult behaviour, set goals for the future, awaken their creative skills, make hanging baskets and much more.
