Connect Supported Employment Service works closely with local employers and businesses to help people with learning and associated disabilities gain employment.

Our Shared Vision for the Future of Swindon

Connect are key players in helping Swindon Borough Council achieve this vision.  Working with people with disabilities and employers, Connect will make a major contribution towards the Council achieving its objectives to:

• Develop Education and Lifelong Learning.  Connect does this by enabling clients to achieve competence and choice through training and work opportunities.
• Work to achieve Equality and Social Inclusion.  Connect offers its clients opportunities to have community presence and participation through taking up real and valued roles through work.
• Maintaining a strong local Economy.  Connect encourages clients to leave benefits to take up paid roles that lead to respect and increased spending power.

These three points will naturally impact on the final objective:

• Looking after our Environment.  People who Connect supports enjoy increased confidence and consequently take more pride in their community and environment.

Exclusion and discrimination of people with learning disabilities is a root cause of disadvantage for them.  Connect offers a new rights-based vision, with people with a learning disability taking up opportunities and using services alongside fellow citizens in the mainstream of life.  This social model of disability is integral to the service offered to bridge the huge gap between reasonable expectations to lead a full life against the current experience of the vast majority of people with a learning disability.

People with a Learning Disability Want Jobs!

The right to work for everyone, including those with disabilities, is a civil rights issue.  Many of the current one million unemployed people with disabilities who are actively seeking work need the expertise that well trained and developed organisations like Connect can offer.  Their previously unheard voice is becoming increasingly vocal and the message is clear to all from the Government to businesses and they are not prepared to settle for less....
