Street Athletics Community Coaching Day
The Street Athletics event that took place at Broad Green on 29th July was an outstanding success despite the rentless rain!
Young people from across the town turned up to run the 60 metre sprint, cheered on, not only by their family and friends, but also by Olympic Gold Medallists Linford Christie and Darren Campbell.
On Thursday 13th August around 50 young people aged from 5yrs to 17yrs took part in the Street Athletics Community Coaching Day at the County Ground Athletics Track. The coaching days were developed as a follow-up event and to leave a legacy for Street Athletics.
Professional coaches, Les Antoine (international hurdler) and Katharine Merry (400m Olympic medallist) spent the afternoon putting the young athletes through their paces in sprinting, hurdles, javelin and long jump, supported by local coaches.
