Vote Eligibility
You must be eighteen years or over (if you are 18 on the day of the election you can vote in that election).
Voting is open to:
All British, Irish and other European Union citizens*
All Commonwealth citizens**
British Overseas Territories citizens***
Overseas electors
Members of HM Forces and their spouses
Crown servants employed outside the United Kingdom
*European Union citizens may vote and stand for election at European parliamentary elections and local government elections in the member state in which they reside, but they are only allowed to participate in parliamentary elections in their home state.
