The Cash Desk in the One Stop Shop closed on 5th April 2012. This is part of the Council’s drive to provide residents with alternative, more convenient and cost effective payment methods and will save £500,000 over the next 10 years.

The council will continue to accept payment by cheque for all council services.  Cheques can be sent by post or left in a drop-off box in the One Stop Shop.  If you are paying by cheque then please include your bill reference number / account number.

Cheques should be sent to:

Swindon Borough Council
Civic Offices

Alternative Methods of Payment

For all other services there are a variety of payment methods that can be accessed from the comfort of your home or in many instances closer to home.  Alternative methods may include Direct Debit, Internet Payment (24hrs), Telephone Payment (24hrs), Debit/Credit Card in the One Stop Shop (not available for council tax or housing rent payments), Post Office or PayPoint.

For a full list of which payment methods are accepted for each service then please refer to the attached Closure of Cashier Desk leaflet.(148KB)

Staff will be available to support residents to understand the alternative ways they can pay and identify which methods may be more convenient to them. If you have any questions then please ask a member of staff.

Payment of Fines

If you do not have a bank account and need to pay a fine then we will continue to accept cash payment in the One Stop Shop.

Payment of Arrears
