Apply for a pavement licence

The Business and Planning Act 2020 introduced a new, temporary, fast-track process for businesses to obtain a pavement licence for the placement of furniture such as tables and chairs on the highway adjacent to their premises.

The Government has extended the provision of temporary pavement licences for a further year from 1 October 2023 to 30 September 2024. This permission can only be used for the purpose of selling or consuming food and drink in connection with the activity of the main premises.

How to apply

To apply for a pavement licence, you must complete the application form and submit it electronically by email to: streetworks@swindon.gov.uk

The application fee is £100 which can be paid online below, once your application has been approved.
