Digital Dimensions - Get Animated

Creative and Media Diploma

Create are delighted to have been commissioned to deliver a range of exciting work related learning strands to tie in with the launch of the new Creative and Media Diploma for 14-19 year olds.

10 Swindon schools are piloting the Diploma from September, with around 100 young people signed up. Create will be at the heart of supporting the work with teachers and students, in addition to Create's regular workshops and activities for young people keen to learn more about animation, filmmaking and all things digital.

Creative Gateway

Work related learning strands for Swindon students on the 14-19 Creative and Media Diploma.

Create Studios is the Creative Gateway commissioned by the Swindon 14-19 Partnership to deliver an exciting range of subsidised work related learning opportunities open to schools delivering the Creative and Media Diploma.

All strands are subsidised by Swindon 14-19 Partnership and participating schools/students will be booked on a first come first served basis.

Behind the Scenes - Exemplar Work Place Tours

Inspire your students by getting behind the scenes access to six high profile national creative beacons, from broadcast and performing arts, to exhibition and production. Look out for confirmed venues and dates. Numbers will vary according to venue capacity.

When: Terms 1-3

Who: open to all schools

Subsidised costs: On average £100/school per visit

The Apprentice comes to you! - Simulated Work Packages in School

Have a professional artist come and set a real brief to your class, offering feedback and mentoring project development over an agreed fixed term.

Three slots available: Graphic Design, Animation, Photography

When: Terms 3 and 4, equivalent of three days’ contact time.

Who: Classes up to 30

Subsidised Cost: £300 per class

Understanding the Creatives - Speed Dating Employers

Short cut the Scene section of the diploma by attending a vibrant one day event with a range of creative professionals to interview. Opportunities for hands on demos mean you can impress professionals seeking to take on placements.

When: Term 2

Who: any Creative and Media student

Subsidised cost: £15 per student

Summer Film School – Major Movie Production without leaving town!

A small group of students based at Create Studios, Swindon will work on an intensive media project, filming, marketing and launching a new moving image commission within a weekend. Working alongside professionals over two days, this is also a unique free CPD opportunity for accompanying teaching staff.

When: Term 5

Who: 12 students and teachers from 2 different schools on application and interview

Subsidised cost: £115 per student

Swindon’s Got Talent: Dance/Performing Arts Masterclass

Experience an intensive day of workshops led by an industry professional, working towards a public performance the same day.

When: Term 4/5

Who: Up to 30 students

Subsidised cost: £30/student

Create Studios is also leading on Work Buddy Mentoring to support eight creative industry employers in Swindon to take on work placements for the first time, through Creative Gateway.
