Energy Without the Sun

The winners of Frequency Airborne Battle of the Bands, Energy Without the Sun, recorded their first album Good Clean Dirt at Create Studios in November 2008.

Energy Without the Sun are a four-piece band from Chippenham. They won five days in Create Studios' state-of-the-art Sound Studio, working alongside top producer Barry Andrews (ex XTC), a Mac Book Pro & Logic Studio Software, courtesy of Western Computers. Mediaplant provided 1000 copies of the finished CD.

They competed against 40 other bands and two others in the final heat of the Battle of the Bands competition that was run by Frequency Magazine and Brunel FM. The band said, "We are delighted with the tracks we did with Barry at Create. It's been so good. We managed to get far more done than we thought and are now at the mixing stage."

Band members are Ali Hoff - Guitar & Vocals, Mark Henly - Bass & Vocals, Simon Garraway - Guitar & Vocals, Steve Jones - Drums.

They also secured a late sponsorship deal from Mark Pepperall Photography, in association with Hot Pepper Design Ltd, who are based at Create Studios, for a photo shoot and album cover design.

For bookings and hire rates contact Create Studios on 01793 465399.

The Frosted Teacakes

Local young indie rock band The Frosted Teacakes recorded two tracks with Barry Andrews at Create Studios, which they've used countless times to send off to prospective gigs and competitions. They used one of the soundtracks to make their own music video, which can view on YouTube.
