Mervyn Peake – The Man and His Art
An illustrated presentation and talk by his son and author, Sebastian Peake.
Author of Gormenghast and one of the greatest artists and writers of the twentieth century, Mervyn Peake was a fascinating man. More than mere author, he collaborated with Benjamin Britten on a stage production of his classic work, and his illustrations for Treasure Island are reckoned to be amongst the best ever produced.
To mark the fortieth anniversary of his death, a collection of his poems have been newly published as well as a personal biography. This event is a close and fascinating examination of his life and work.
