Swindon Music Symposium

What happened...

Steve Causer reports....

What a great evening. It was good to see so many people attend and from all music areas. The first talk from Matt Booth focused on what was happening regionally and to sew the seed of whether we should set up a Swindon Music Forum. Such a forum would be set up to allow much more than the following but areas such as:

  • To create a body to represent the collective needs and interests of the music sector
  • To disseminate information, regional and national
  • To provide advice
  • To assist in development
  • To create and maintain partnerships

It would be run by a committee of representatives from the music scene......this is all to be discussed and the view is to move towards something like this but nothing can be promised at the moment.

Andrew Dubber gave an insight and thoughts on marketing and using the online world in a better way. He has a website on which he provides information relating to music and strategies that can be adopted, newmusicstrategies.com

Barry Andrews then gave an account of his journey through his music career which was very frank and inspiring - again providing a context to why we were all there as well as sewing seeds on potentially what people may need to help them do what he has done or develop their careers.

We are now at the stage of pulling together all the feedback captured on the night.

If you did attend then thank you, I hope you found it useful and valuable.
