Richard Jefferies Museum - Information

The Richard Jefferies Society

Founded in 1950, the Richard Jefferies' Society has 300 members all over the world. It exists to help and encourage the study of Jefferies' work. There are meetings for rallies, readings and discussions, as well as visits to places associated with the writer. For more details about the society and its activities and events please contact:

Parking and Directions

Park at Coate Water car park and then walk to the model railway and go through the fence/gap on the left, onto a path. Walk up the path and turn left onto a country road. Turn left again on the main road and the Museum is on your left, opposite the garage. From the car park it is a very gentle 10 minutes walk.

Alternatively, the Sun Inn have granted permission for visitors to park there when they visit the Museum.

There is some parking at the Museum for people with mobility challanges, but this is very limited.

Opening Times

The museum is open on the second Wednesday of the month throughout the year (10am to 4pm). A writers' group also meets on that day. New members welcome. For further information contact the Richard Jefferies' Society. Tel. 01793  783040.

The museum is also open on the first and third Sunday of the month, from May - September, 2-5pm.

Also, in 2008, it will be open on Heritage Open Day, on 14 September from 2-5pm.

Admission to the museum is Free.

Disabled/Special Needs Access

The museum is not accessible for wheelchair users.
