Themed activities and a children’s quiz trail will keep children occupied during February half-term at Lydiard Park.
The activities will run at the Swindon Borough Council-owned park and stately home between Saturday (11 February) and Sunday, 19 February.
The new trail ‘On Top of the World’ will see children seeking out objects that have come from far-flung countries around the world and learning about the well-travelled members of the St John family. There is also the opportunity to make a flag to take home. The trail is included in the cost of entry to Lydiard House and is available from Saturday to 19 February between 11am and 4pm (closed Monday 13 February).
On Valentine’s Day, Tuesday 14 February between 12pm and 3pm, there’s a drop-in craft session running at Lydiard Park for children to make and decorate a fun and funky love bug to give as a present to their loved ones or to hang up at home.
Next Thursday (16 February), the theme is celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Dragon where children can get creative by using paper folding skills to make their own dragon puppet. The cost of each session is £3 per child and all materials are provided. Booking isn’t necessary, but anyone interested should meet at the Coach House by the house and walled garden between 12pm and 3pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Emma Valentine, Events and Marketing Officer for Lydiard Park, said: “These fun, family-friendly activities are part of a programme of events at Lydiard Park to inspire curiosity and learning in children and the adults accompanying them.
“Half-term holidays are an important time for families to do things together and, with a fantastic play area, beautiful grounds for a walk or bike ride, Lydiard Park offers a great day out for everyone.”
Lydiard House & Walled Garden is open Tuesdays to Sundays, 11am to 4pm. Admission charge applies. Lydiard Park is open daily until dusk, parking and entry is free.
